Caroline Cassinelli holds a master's degree in Visual and Media Anthropology from Media University Berlin. She is a Toronto-based filmmaker, anthropologist, and lecturer in the course: Bringing the Museum to Life: Contemporary Questions on Museography. Her research focuses on the intersection of film/media studies with deaf studies and the role of museums in cultural policy. Her graduation film “Just the Beginning: A Coda Story” explores responses by the deaf and Coda communities to the 2021 film CODA. She conducted research for the PROUD Project at the University of Toronto, investigating disability and employment outcomes in 5 countries: USA, UK, Canada, Belgium and France.
Caroline previously worked on exhibition research and curation for the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History. Caroline has also worked on artist coordination and public programming for the Smithsonian Centre for Folklife and Cultural Heritage in Washington, D.C.
Caroline is currently interning at the United Nations – International Telecommunications Union, exploring her interests in inclusive technology, accessibility, and education.
