Ability to analyze and solve issues related to market and campaign analysis, industrial, organizational and other business-related processes from a business management standpoint, within a research or practitioner/consultancy context

The study program focuses on:

  •     the analysis, conception and implementation of marketing campaigns,
  •     the analysis of general economic developments, market structures and corporate strategies in the media industry
  •     the economic and psychological explanation of consumer behavior and decision-making processes

Students acquire comprehensive competencies in up-to-date fields of applied marketing and media management, such as the deepening and application of the different areas of the marketing mix, media management and media economics, methodological competencies as well as their application (qualitative and quantitative methods). These intellectual and practical tools for highly qualified professions are specifically developed during the program.

The Master's program M.A. International Marketing and Media Management can be studied at the Berlin and Frankfurt a. M. campuses in English (M.A. International Marketing & Media Management) and at the Media University location in Cologne in German.

Regardless of the teaching language of the respective degree program, master's theses at Media University can generally be written in German or English. For examinations, this rule only applies by individual agreement and requires the consent of the lecturer of the respective module.

Applicants: Graduates of undergraduate general or special studies in a business or social science discipline.

Target jobs: Marketing and media managers are in demand in all industrial and service sectors. There is a growing demand for employees especially in the areas of communications planning, market and consumer analysis, and consulting. Typical jobs and responsibilities of marketing and media managers include:

  •     Marketing in agencies, in corporate marketing departments or as consultants
  •     Market research for market research agencies or institutes or as in-house market researchers
  •     Analysis of business processes and marketing services as an analyst or business intelligence manager
  •     Management consulting

General modules: Elective modules on media law, media asset management, media psychology, intercultural management skills, among others.

Subject-specific modules: including marketing communication, consumer behavior, price and sales management, market research, media management and economics, emerging media markets, digital transformation

The module plan

The structure and content of the Media University degree programs are characterized by the division into interdisciplinary and subject-specific competencies.

All Media University Master's students can choose from seven modules in the areas of fundamentals, technology and human factors, from which a total of three modules are selected.

The subject-specific competencies in the M.A. International Marketing & Media Management program comprise six basic modules, four advanced modules and, as the last module, the Master's colloquium.

The foundation modules include marketing communication, consumer behavior, price and sales management, market research, media management and economics, new media markets, digital transformation with statistics and research projects as well as methodological and practice-oriented modules.

The fourth semester is completed by the final master's colloquium and the writing of the master's thesis as part of an independent research project.

The specific semester schedule is subject to change.

  • A good to very good degree from a general or specialized business degree program (university or university of applied sciences) or
  • A good to very good degree in economics or social sciences (university or university of applied sciences)
  • Evidence of the acquisition of at least 20 credit points in economics subjects
  • University-internal selection process

In addition, the program is accredited and certified by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). The program thus meets the highest international academic quality standards.
